A company's relationship with its bank is a negotiation decided less by the numbers than by the preparation behind them. The same balance sheet can look financeable in a well-constructed credit file and look like a risk in a scattered one. The difference comes from knowing which indicator the bank examines, and in what order.
This advisory draws on 25 years of running credit origination and monitoring from inside a bank. Its purpose is to translate your company's financial reality into the language a credit committee uses, so that you enter the meeting with a case rather than with uncertainty.
What This Service Covers
- Mapping your existing loan portfolio by maturity, cost and collateral structure
- Modelling restructuring options for loans that are distressed or heading that way
- Building the credit file submitted to the bank as a coherent financial narrative with complete documentation
- Preparing debt service capacity (DSCR), leverage and cash flow projections
- Negotiation strategy and scenario work ahead of bank meetings
- Reviewing the collateral structure and personal guarantee exposure
How We Work
- DiagnosisThree years of financial statements, loan agreements, collateral structure and payment history are reviewed to establish how the bank currently classifies you.
- Capacity analysisA realistic debt service capacity is calculated from cash flow. This becomes the basis for the maturity and amount you ask for.
- Scenario designAt least three restructuring scenarios — maturity extension, grace period, principal reduction — are modelled with their cash impact.
- File preparationThe package that reaches the credit committee is completed, narrative and supporting documents together.
- Negotiation supportPreparation is done before the meeting; technical support during meetings is available on request.
Who It Is For
- Companies starting to struggle with repayments that want to move early
- Businesses working with several banks that want to simplify their debt structure
- Firms preparing a credit application for new investment who want a stronger file
- Management teams assessing their last options before insolvency proceedings

How long does preparing a bank credit file take?
Typically two to four weeks, depending on company size and how well organised the existing financial statements are. Where an urgent negotiation date exists, a prioritised file can be built faster.
Our loan is already in default — is anything still possible?
Yes. Restructuring, sale and settlement protocols all remain available for a non-performing exposure. But the number of options narrows over time, so moving early is decisive.
Do you attend bank meetings on our behalf?
Decisions and representation stay with the company. On request, meetings are attended in a technical support capacity; the preparation, scenarios and numerical case are built together beforehand.
Is this a legal service?
No. What is offered is advisory on financial and banking processes; it does not include legal representation. Where legal opinion is required, work proceeds alongside your own counsel.
